News and notes from today’s practice

By: David Franklin

With the second scrimmage of the spring coming up in two days The Miami Hurricanes practiced in a muggy environment as Manny Diaz once again turned off the AC inside the IPF. OC Dan Enos continues his fiery ways and today turned his frustrations towards the WR group as they had trouble hanging onto the ball. An injured player returned and a few more notes below.

– Safety Amari Carter who has been nursing an injured foot participated today.

– QBs N’Kosi Perry and Jarren Williams looked good but Tate Martell struggled early to get the plays called and heard about it from Coach Enos.

– Some have asked about Punter Louis Hedley. He is hoping to arrive early next month.

– Sophomore CB DJ Ivey got praised by DC Blake Baker as did Al Blades Jr.

– Sophomore FB Realus George is impressing the coaching staff with his improvements on the field and in the weight room. I spoke with George last week and again this morning and he says this new offense “Is going to be electric. Just wait and see.”

– Mark Pope, Trajan Bandy, and Jeff Thomas all saw action on KR.

– Blake Baker mentioned looking at possible transfers at the LB position but nothing definite.

– Saturday’s scrimmage will be held at Traz Powell Stadium at 12:00 pm and admission is free.
