Cayden Baker (Fort Meyers HS) picked up an offer from Miami last week and today he took another trip to campus. He told me today that visiting after receiving the offer is a little different than before. “The first time I was stunned by everything and was trying to take it all in. This time I was trying to see myself there and if I thought it’d be a good fit.” It sounds like the Canes think it’s a good fit. Baker picked up the offer on his first visit since camping there last Summer.
OL Coach Butch Barry has said that he likes the athletic type of lineman and that he’d rather build them up than trim them down and Cayden fits that profile. At 6’7″ and 260 pounds he has also picked up some attention on the basketball ball court where several Ivy League schools have come calling which shows he also puts in work in the classroom.
While the Miami offer came as somewhat of a surprise there has been some interest from a few other programs such as Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Nebraska, and FIU including an offer from Southern Miss. One interesting note to mention is the fact that his dad played Center at FSU from 88-92. There’s no pressure there as he says his dad has been nothing but supportive and is encouraging him to make the best decision for himself. The coaching staff, facilities, and overall environment definitely have him intrigued and he was also impressed by the fact that even S&C Coach David Feeley was involved and interacting with recruits on his visit. Hopefully it’ll be enough to land his services on an O – Line that is looking to improve.
