Way to early 2019 prediction

By: Eric Moore

As the spring has just started and things are working themselves out for the Hurricanes, we have decided to do a “way to early” prediction. 2019 has a lot of question marks going into the new season, as no starters have been named and no depth charts have been placed. This blog will y’all our opinion only, and give an insight to how we see things shaking out.

As of now, it seems that the best option at quarterback will be Redshirt Freshman Jarren Williams. Tailbacks will be Cam’Ron Harris and Deejay Dallas rotating carries, and Lorenzo Lingard will get a great amount of playing time as well. The offensive line is looking lol Scaife, Donaldson, Gaynor, Reed, and Campbell seem to have traction as starters. Thomas, Osborn, and Pope at wide receiver, yet Jordan and Mallory will finish out the offensive starters. Garvin, Ford, Silvera, and Patchan seem to have the defensive line moving well. Pinckney, McCloud, and Quarterman will be the starting linebackers and Bandy, Ivey, Blades, Carter, and Hall seem to be the look in the secondary.

Aug 24th. Florida

This rivalry game is not one that is a usual game every year, and it usually brings a lot of spectators to see the sunshine state rivalry game. With Florida having a lot of momentum coming in the game, after a 10 win season and bring back their QB, RB, and WRs it looks good. They will need to replace a lot across the line of scrimmage, but the secondary returns majority of their starters. They will need to replace a linebacker and only bring back 1 starting defensive linemen. So this team will need to have the returning leaders step up for them, as they will look to start of strong as well. This game will see a major challenge for both teams.

Miami 23-20

Sept 7th North Carolina

After having a bye week in week 2, the Hurricanes will face their first ACC opponent in the Tar Heels. Just like the Hurricanes, the University of North Carolina will have a new coaching staff in their first year. Good news for the Tar Hells, as they’ll be the home team here. The Hurricanes will have an extra week for preparing for this game, and already have faced a power 5 team. Expect the Hurricanes to roll easy in week 3.

Miami 38-10

Sept 14th Bethune Cookman

As week 3 arrives, the Hurricanes come home for their first home game of the season. A familiar FCS opponent in the Wildcats, will visit the Hurricanes at Hard Rock stadium. Coming off to power 5 games, the Hurricanes will look to get out to an early start and will get some of the younger guys in and work out some kinks in preparing for conference play.

Miami 62-9

Sept 21st Central Michigan

When the chippewas come to town, they bring in first year head coach Jim McElwain. The former Florida Gators head coach, will bring his team in looking to prove they are improving under his coaching. This will be Miami last time up game before starting the rest of their conference play. They will need to focus on the Chippewas, as the Virginia Tech Hokies will come to town after the by week. Miami should be able to finish out some of the kinks in the offense and defense here and cruise to the bye week.

Miami 45-13

Oct 5th Virginia Tech

The Hokies have been a well-known rival of the Hurricanes dating back to the Big East days, and we don’t expect that to change any time soon. The Hokies have lost a lot on the team the past two years, as it seems Coach Fuente seems he has lost his team. The Hokies usually give Miami a tough game, but we don’t expect that to happen so much this year.

Miami 34-14

Oct 11th Virginia

The cavaliers will travel down to Hard Rock stadium on a Friday night to take on the Hurricanes, and the will come looking to defeat the Hurricanes for a second year in a row. The Hurricanes however will look to take some revenge out after last seasons lost, but it won’t be an easy game. Coach Mendenhall has the University of Virginia Cavaliers in a good position, to fight for the coastal division. With this being the 6th game in, expect the Hurricanes team to be confident and ready for anyone to come get the best of them every week.

Miami 31-17

Oct 19th Georgia Tech

Week 9 brings the Yellow Jackets in for the Hurricanes 5th straight home game, and another shot at the Hurricanes getting revenge at a lost last season. Unfortunately for Georgia Tech, they will have a new staff and will need to learn an entire new system this season;furthermore, will need players to get away from the triple-option offense. Georgia Tech should be more confident going into week 9, but don’t know if the personnel will have transitioned to the offense fully yet.

Miami 41-14

Oct 26th Pitt

3 weeks in a row the Hurricanes take on an opponent they lost to in the previous season, but this Pitt game will be an away game. Going up to Pittsburgh will be the first road game in 6 weeks, and expect it to be a little colder then normal. The mentality and chemistry of this Hurricane team should be a lot higher then previous weeks, and the leadership should be able to handle its business here. Pitt will have some experience tho, and will give the Hurricanes it’s toughest ACC test of the year.

Miami 31-27

Nov 2nd Florida State

The Hurricanes will travel up to Tallahassee to take on the Seminoles, and just like the Hurricanes. Florida State will have a new offense, but lack of depth at Quarterback. Blackman seems to have his foot in the door, as the starting quarterback going into the season. Believe they will improve from last season, but they will need to improve the line of scrimmage. Expect a good game as usual in this rivalry game, while the previous 5 games have been decided by less the a touchdown.

Miami 27-23

Nov 9th Louisville

Week 12 brings the Louisville Cardinals down to Miami, and new Louisville coach Satterfield to town. The Cardinals will look to replace a lot this season, but may have some good momentum by week 12 in the season. Think the talent gap shows here, and the Hurricanes cruise into the bye week. Not a lot to look forward to, going into a bye week and having Florida International the week after.

Miami 42-13

Nov 23rd Florida International

The cross town Panthers will meet the Hurricanes at Marlins Park, and Coach Butch Davis seems to have the Panthers improving yearly. The talent gap and depth won’t keep this game close, as the same result has happen the previous year the two teams have met.

Miami 59-13

Nov 30th Duke

The Hurricanes will travel up to Durham the last week of the regular season, and will look to avenge the lost loss in the previous year. The Blue Devils are replacing quite a bit of talent this year, and looking for a new starting quarterback this season. Look for the Hurricanes to bounce their way into the ACC title game and take on Clemson.

Miami 41-10

Dec 7th Clemson

The Hurricanes look to get back to the ACC Championship game this year, and try to compete for a conference championship and a possible bid to the College Football Playoffs. Clemson looks to be the best team in the country, and should roll into the College Football Playoffs undefeated. The Hurricanes give Clemson a better game then they have in previous years, but the Tigers will win the game.

Clemson 31-17

Rivalry games are usually a wildcard. UNC, GT, and Louisville have new coaches. UVA and Pitt are games that are concerning, even tho I think Pitt more likely. UVA is at home, and Pitt is away. FIU, CMU, and BCU are games UM should handle. Duke is also replacing a NFL bound quarterback.
