Miami continues to look towards the future with big recruiting weekend

By: David Franklin

With too many names to mention Miami opened its doors to a number of recruiting targets from several classes over the weekend. One thing is for sure, “The New Miami” is definitely turning some heads and grabbing the attention of many top recruits. While almost every visitor you talk to points to the new feel and the new energy around the program it’s clear to see that first year HC Manny Diaz is focused on bringing his vision for the program full circle. One of the more interesting stories from the weekend was the recommitment of 4* Safety Keshawn Washington. After visiting on Friday, Washington who had previously backed off of his pledge to the Hurricanes announced on Sunday that he would once again become apart of the 2020 class. Miami also picked up a commitment from OL Antonio Smith. After picking up an offer while on his visit Smith announced his plans to play football at The U on Sunday as well.

Miami also extended offers to OL Gerald Mincey and Cayden Baker as well as TE Cade Berrong. A couple visitors came away pretty impressed by what they saw and named Miami as their leaders. DE Johnny Walker and CB Justin Hodges both moved the Canes to the top of their lists.
