Florida State staff hosted a few prospects on campus yesterday, and one of there main priorities were big offensive linemen Zane Herring. The Madison County has been a feeder school to the university, and after getting Travis Jay last cycle out of Madison County. Coach Taggart and company picked up another huge target in Zane Herring, and Herring told me “I’m shutting down, I’m a NOLE.”
Herring has visited Florida State quite a few times and this time he just felt it was right this time to commit, but it wasn’t until he was ready to leave that he knew it was time. He watched the team practice and he loved the intensity they played with in practice, but afterwards he met with Coach Taggart, Coach Clements, and Coach Briles for about 2 hours. He was hanging out with Richie Leonard IV on his visit, and he said “before i left i changed my mind and I made my way back up to Coach Taggarts office, and I told him i’m ready to do something.”
While he had a busy day with his whole family on campus, he state “my favorite part was when I committed, i was excited and all the coaches where excited. My family was crying tears of joy, and it was a great feeling.” Asked Herring what made you commit, “my whole family was there and i knew i’d end up at FSU, so I decided i’d go ahead and commit. Start recruiting insead of taking OV’s and then committing. I wanted to be apart of this great organization now.” He made it very clear he was ready to shut it down and give everything to making Florida State class great.
One thing that set its self aside for the Coach staff, he wasn’t just getting recruited by one coach. The entire staff was recruiting Herring and not only on campus, but personally they messaged him and talked to him daily. At 6’5 300lbs, Herring will mainly by inside on the line, but he can pass protect and run protect with the best of anyone. Really nice pickup for Coach Taggart and his staff.
