It’s good to see that Diaz is not afraid to go out and try to get some of the nations top talent for the 2020 cycle. It seems so often in recent years, Miami keeps letting the local big recruits slip through our fingers. Though that is something Diaz will work on, why not go after some of the Nations best recruits. Diaz has shown with Martell, Jordan, Phillips, Hill and Bolden that Miami can be a national recruiting school with the best of them.
Miami has offered Saint Louis (Mo.) Trinity Catholic, Mookie Cooper. Cooper is listed at 5-11, 178 pounds. He clocked a 4.49 this past spring in the 40-yard dash and also holds offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Wisconsin.
The St. Louis native said, “ain’t nothing pretty in St.Louis, “Growing up I always wished to live and play for Miami”
So where do we really stand with Cooper? Well, Illinois is putting together some nice talent and it’s his home school. There is some talk of Texas, but as I said, he loves his home team. But there is the Jeff Thomas connection, that alone might make it interesting.
Miami offers five-star linebacker, Savell Smalls. Smalls, who is ranked by 247Sports’ as the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect this cycle, said that he has spoken with Diaz on multiple occasions.
Though Smalls has never visited Miami, he hopes that changes at some point this summer.
Though Smalls has put the Hurricanes in his Top 12, he plans on cutting it down to six by August. Smalls plans on visiting Coral Gables before he cuts his list down
“Diaz offered me as a tight end, but then the linebackers and defensive end coaches are trying to get me to. I like this because I could play a couple of different positions there depending on what I want to play.”
So where do we stand? Well FSU has done a good job of getting his attention along with Alabama. But I have his home team of Washinton in the lead at this point. But a visit to Miami can change everything. So I’d say we’re as much in this as anyone.
Miami Offers Jordan Morant. Morant is the nation’s number one ranked safety in the 2020 cycle according to 247Sports rankings.
Morant said, “Miami is a school he would like to visit at some point down the line.”
Flust has learned there has been plenty of talk between Morant and the Hurricanes over the past couple of weeks and that a visit should happen as early as April.
So what’s our Third Eye view of Morant? Well, he seems to be a big 10 lean with PENN STATE as his favorite to this point. This too seems a long stretch for Miami, but at least Diaz is willing to go after the Blue Chip guys from all over the nation. If we can win 10 games this year, these out of state kids will really give the Canes a real look.
